Chapter 27

The matter about Chen Yueyang holding a concert, the entertainment media had been bombarded about this for half a month, and countless pieces of “secret information” had been revealed, earning a lot of attention.

Fortunately, after the first rehearsal was leaked, Jing Jiren strictly controlled the employees entering and exiting the venue, so the situation did not get out of control.

On the day of the concert, the scalpers outside the venue were almost picking the asking price on the spot. Fei Chang had his assistant to ask around. The 5888 yuan1[Around 800 USD.] ticket in his hand had already risen up to 20,000 yuan2[Around 2800 USD.]!

Fei Chang touched the thin piece of paper, believing that his family’s senior brother had more potential to appreciate than anyone else in the world–and even more value as a collectible.

The concert began admitting the audience at 7:15 in the evening and started at 8 o’clock.

Just after lunch, all kinds of flower baskets and support items poured into the backstage like a tide. The support items were all donated by Chen Yueyang’s fans, and the flower baskets were gifts from his friends in the circle, to wish him all the best for the concert.

Small cards were inserted in the flower baskets with the name of the giver written on them.

Fei Chang opened one: Ah, the mixed-blood actor An Ruifeng.

Fei Chang opened another one: Oh, the variety show queen Zhu Linlin.

Fei Chang opened another one: Huh, the new talent show star Hua Xiang.

Looking around, there were dozens of flower baskets around the wall, and the signatures on each of them were well-known figures in the circle.

Fei Chang frowned. It was the first time he had participated in a concert. He was clearly the person who cared about Chen Yueyang the most, but he didn’t know that there was a social tradition of “friends giving gifts” in the circle.  As a result, he became the only person who came empty-handed.

Chen Yueyang laughed at him. “You still want to give a gift? You coming here and helping me is already the best gift.”

In a few words, Feichang was coaxed to laugh, and he was in a good mood all afternoon.

He didn’t have any idol baggage so he followed the staff, and when he saw someone who needed a hand, he went over to help. When Jing Jiren caught him, he was helping the clothing assistant iron clothes.

Don’t look at his thick and long fingers, he was extremely dexterous. He could smooth even the smallest folds, and neatly clean up even the most difficult clothes.

Jing Jiren became anxious and angry. “Fei Chang, what are you doing!”

“I’m sorting out senior brother’s costume.”

“Okay, okay, if you want to fold clothes for him, go back to his house and fold slowly! There are two drawers just for underwear!” Jing Jiren dragged him to the dressing room, “What time is it now, you hurry up and go do make-up!”

The busier the work, the faster the time passes, and the whole afternoon was spent in a panic.

Chen Yueyang had his first set of makeup done very early. He ate a little and put on the first set of opening costumes with the help of the costume designer.

This costume was custom-made in Europe at a high price. It was suit-style, and the collar and cuff were studded with Swarovski crystals. It was dazzling enough under indoor lighting. Under the stage lights, it must be even more bright and eye-catching.

The senior and junior brothers shared a dressing room. When Chen Yueyang changed his clothes, Fei Chang looked at him eagerly, and even forgot to eat the bento he was holding.

He didn’t dare to be too blatant, so he could only look at his senior brother quietly through the reflection of the mirror.

His gaze slid from Chen Yueyang’s Adam’s apple to his shoulders, then from his shoulders to his lower abdomen, and then wandered a few circles around a mysterious area, and then lifted up again slowly–how could he imagine that as his gaze just returned to Chen Yueyang’s face, it would run into those beautiful red phoenix eyes3[A desirable type of eye shape, considered sexy.].

Chen Yueyang looked at him in the mirror with a smile that was not a smile, seeming to have long noticed Fei Chang’s explicit glance.

The tall young man shrank his neck, and stuck his head into the bento box, not daring to admit that he looked at his senior brother with his imagination going wild.

Fortunately, the dressing room was crowded and noisy. Except for them, no one noticed Fei Chang’s abnormality.

After the audience entered the venue, there wasn’t much time left for them to prepare.

Chen Yueyang and the band, the live director, and the general director confirmed procedures for the last time, while Jing Jiren ran to confirm the safety of the facility with the wire group.

Fei Chang was participating for the first time in such a large-scale event, and his heart was pounding, jumping back and forth for that one person.

Before officially entering the stage, everyone left the lounge, leaving the space for Chen Yueyang, allowing him to use the last tranquility to adjust his breathing, rhythm, and mental state.

Fei Chang had planned to leave, but was stopped by Chen Yueyang.

“Fei Chang, you don’t have to go.”

Fei Chang anxiously accompanied him.

The lounge had a lot of space and many chairs, but the two of them leaned close to each other. Neither of them wanted to distance themselves.

They just sat quietly for a while. When Jing Jiren came to urge them to go up on the stage, they realized that their precious time alone had passed just like that.

The staff flocked to Chen Yueyang and left. Uncommonly, Fei Chang didn’t follow, but continued sitting in the same place, staring at Chen Yueyang’s thin back stupidly.

At the moment Chen Yueyang stepped out of the door, he seemed to feel something, and suddenly turned around and took a look.

And this look happened to coincide with Fei Chang’s gaze.

Perhaps this was what it meant, for two hearts to be linked together.

Chen Yueyang chuckled, “Feifei, I’m waiting for you on stage.”

The cheers in the stadium awakened the entire night sky, and Fei Chang could clearly hear the noise outside even though he was sitting backstage.

The assistants twittered as they followed the broadcast. “Several fans have fainted! The original medical team was not staffed enough, and the doctors in charge of the backstage were dispatched.”

Fei Chang: “Wow…”

Little assistant: “Eight pairs have successfully proposed! And one pair is a young lady and a young lady!”

Fei Chang: “Wow…”

Little assistant: “Weibo Parachute is in the top three in the hot search! No, it’s second now!”

Fei Chang: “Wow…”

The little assistant said scornfully, “Fei Fei, what else can you do besides ‘wow’?”

Fei Chang thought about it seriously, and said tentatively: “…quack?”

The little assistant angrily refused to continue sharing gossip with him.

Actually, it was because he was too nervous. This was the first time he participated in a large-scale concert. He used to sit on the top of the mountain and sing, but today he could stand in the center of the stage and perform with his idol. Although it didn’t show on his face, his stomach was rippling like a river and rolling like a sea. He was so nervous that he only ate a few bites for dinner.

He was terrified that his performance would not be good enough, and he would make a fool of himself on stage.

No one knew that in the past few days, he carried a small notebook with him, that read one, two, three, four, five, six, and seven lines, all his imagination of “what to do after an accident on stage”.

He sincerely hoped that none of them would be used.

Fei Chang waited and waited backstage. After waiting for an hour and a half, it was finally his turn to go up.

The staff led him from the backstage all the way through the corridor, past various rooms, and toward the waiting area behind the stage.

As soon as he stepped into the waiting area, deafening applause came from the stadium. Fei Chang listened carefully, and the accompaniment was the familiar Chinese-style music. Instantly, in his head appeared his senior brother stepping on the flying sword, dancing in the sky.

“There are one hundred seconds left!” The time-keeper next to him said.

Fei Chang checked his earpiece and his microphone for the last time. He mixed with the backup dancers, waiting for the countdown to end.

“Twenty, nineteen, eighteen…”

“Five, four, three, two, one… up!”

With an order from the staff, 20 male dancers and a lively human-shaped giraffe rushed onto the stage.

The dim indoor lights were replaced by dazzling stage lights. Cheers and background music rang through his ears.

This was the dazzling world that Fei Chang had never set foot in.

No matter how you imagined it standing in the audience, only on the stage could you experience the feeling of the world underneath your feet.

There was a “buzz” in his head, and he was a little dizzy at first because he was still unused to it. But when he saw the figure flying in the air, the discomfort quickly subsided, leaving him full of pride.

That was Chen Yueyang! That was his brother, his boss, his idol, his Chen Yueyang!

That was the Chen Yueyang who was loved by all his fans, the Chen Yueyang who was loved by him.

He didn’t care about his nervousness at all. Now, inside the throbbing organ in his chest, the only thing left was excitement.

He quickly ran to the designated place and stood, with his arms outstretched, waiting for Chen Yueyang to land after twenty seconds.

At this time, Chen Yueyang was doing his last finishing moves in the air–his sword pointed at the fountain in front of the stage. Accompanied by the rhythm of the music and his singing, the water rose and fell, and countless clusters of water jets shot out to the sky!

The fountain was a temporary manmade structure, and in one word, it was expensive. The little assistant said before that what shot into the pool was not water, it was rushing streams of $$$.

According to the plan, when the last note fell, a huge flower of water would burst out from the surface, and Chen Yueyang would somersault to the ground at the same time.

But unfortunately, the accident happened at this juncture–

The wires, which were originally suspended directly above the stage, somehow went wrong somewhere, and actually slid toward the direction of the fountain. Chen Yueyang’s flipping and falling trajectory could not be stopped. He could only watch as he was thrown into the gushing pool!

The fierce wave of water poured into his nose. Even as calm as he was, he panicked at this moment. You had to know, he could do anything, the only thing he couldn’t do was swim.

Regarding this twist, people on and off the stage reacted completely differently.

The audience thought it was a plot designed in advance, and happily shook the light signs in their hands. However, all the staff knew that this was not part of the rehearsed material–this was a f*&%*&$ stage accident!!

All the dancers on the stage were stunned on the spot. Jing Jiren yelled out: “Doctor! Go save him! If you can’t cure him, you’ll all accompany him to the grave!”

But someone reacted faster than him.

Amidst everyone’s eyes, there was a blur as a tall figure flashed by, leaping over the stage and quickly plunging into the pool!

Fortunately, the pool was not deep. Fei Chang immediately found his senior brother who had sunk to the bottom of the pool, slapped unconscious by a wave of water. Struggling, he pushed him to the edge of the pool.

The audience finally realized that this was not a surprise rehearsed in advance, and their idol almost drowned to death in front of them!

The on-site photographers were also shocked by this sudden development. It was too late to move away the cameras that were originally locked on the stage. Everything that just happened was recorded truthfully by the lens and presented on the big screen at the rear.

Just when the fans raised their phones to record, the dancers finally reacted, swarming around, forming a human wall with their bodies, blocking the view from the outside.

The last scene everyone saw was Fei Chang kneeling beside Chen Yueyang who was unconscious and asphyxiating. His two big hands kept pressing his chest, trying to squeeze out the water. However, for a drowning person, this was far from enough

He twisted his eyebrows, put Chen Yueyang’s chin in one hand, and leaned over and pressed his lips to it.

For someone who could not be more pure. Deep. Inhale. Exhale.
